  1. JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose and Scope of the Role:

  • Develop and execute long-term business plans aligned with market trends, shareholder expectations, and national industrial goals.
  • Lead operational oversight across all business functions, ensuring high levels of productivity, quality, and safety in line with international best practices.
  • Cultivate a high-performance culture by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent, with a focus on leadership succession and workforce nationalization (Omanisation).
  • Act as the primary interface with the Steering Committee/Board and Shareholder, ensuring alignment with shareholder’s downstream strategy and Oman’s aluminium sector ambitions.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including government entities, customers, suppliers, and industry regulators.
  • Ensure rigorous risk management practices are in place to proactively identify and mitigate financial, operational, and reputational risks.
  • Monitor and report on business performance metrics, ensuring timely interventions to keep the company on track toward strategic goals.
  • Champion sustainability initiatives, driving progress on ESG performance and aligning with global standards and Oman’s Vision 2040.

Major responsibilities:

Operations

  • Lead and manage the overall business to deliver sustainable growth in line with KPIs and transformation targets set by the Steering Committee / Board and Shareholder.
  • Ensure the reliability and efficiency of production operations by driving asset optimization, quality control, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Lead strategic planning, scenario analysis, and long-term investment planning to position the organization competitively in the regional and global aluminium market.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging lean, Six Sigma, and digital transformation to improve productivity and reduce operational costs.
  • Drive business continuity planning and enterprise risk management to mitigate potential disruptions and safeguard operations.
  • Guide the development and execution of commercial strategies, including sales, marketing, and customer relationship management, to enhance market share and revenue growth.
  • Strengthen governance processes, compliance frameworks, and organizational resilience.
  • Embed a performance-driven culture with accountability, innovation, and commercial agility at its core.

Leadership

  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with all stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, regulators, employees, government agencies, and Shareholder.
  • Provide and align all departments with the Company agenda, ensuring shared ownership of strategic goals and KPIs.
  • Foster a high-performance culture across all levels of the organization, encouraging innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and mentor Omani talent to build a pipeline of future leaders, supporting the national workforce development agenda (Omanisation).
  • Champion internal communication and employee engagement strategies to enhance morale, transparency, and organizational alignment.
  • Drive organizational change management initiatives, ensuring smooth implementation of transformation programs and employee buy-in at all levels.
  • Establish succession planning frameworks to ensure business continuity and leadership stability over the long term.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, quality and environmental and sustainability frameworks across all operations.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture supported by rigorous inspections, audits, and employee engagement.
  • Promote a robust safety and ESG culture, embedding international best practices across operations.
  • Advance the organization’s ESG commitments, including carbon reduction, recycling, and sustainable operations, in alignment with national sustainability goals.
  • Monitor ESG performance metrics and regularly report progress to the Steering Committee / Board, Shareholder, and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure business continuity and environmental risk management plans are in place and regularly tested to safeguard people, assets, and the environment.
  • Foster partnerships with industry peers, regulators, and sustainability organizations to stay ahead of evolving ESG standards and trends.
     
  1. QUALIFICATIONS/ COMPETENCIES

Experience

  • 20+ years of progressive leadership in the metals/aluminium (Must).
  • Proven track record in leading complex operations, driving transformation, and delivering financial and operational turnarounds.
  • Experience in engaging with Boards, Shareholders, regulators, and external stakeholders at senior levels.
  • Prior experience in CEO/MD role, or equivalent executive leadership capacity (preferred).

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related specialization.
  • Advanced executive education or leadership certification (preferred).

Foreign Language (English Level)

  • English (Fluency in reading, speaking and writing)

Functional/ Technical Skills

  • Deep expertise in operations, process optimization, and transformation within metals/aluminium or related industries.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with ability to drive revenue growth, cost efficiency, and EBITDA improvement.
  • Strong track record in international negotiations, commercial contracts, and strategic partnerships.
  • Ability to lead under pressure, manage complexity, and deliver results within challenging market dynamics.
