Scope

RPI & Plastic Assets (SR/AP, MAF, Plastics & NGLE)

Pressure transmitters

These instruments measure the pressure of fluids or gases in pipes, tanks, and vessels. They are used to ensure that the process is operating within safe pressure limits.

Temperature transmitters gauges, Thermowells,

Thermocouples, Thermocouple Assemblies.

These instruments measure the temperature of fluids or gases in various process equipment, such as heat exchangers, reactors, and distillation columns.

They help to ensure that the process operates within the desired temperature range.

Flow meters

These instruments measure the flow rate of liquids and gases in pipes and vessels. They are used to monitor the amount of material being transferred between different process stages.

Level transmitters

These instruments measure the level of liquids and solids in tanks and vessels. They are used to ensure that tanks are not overfilled or emptied too quickly, which could result in safety hazards or process disruptions.

Analyzers

These instruments measure the chemical composition of process streams. They are used to monitor the quality of products and ensure that the process is operating within the required specifications

Control valves / Instrument Manifold / Positioners.

These are critical components that control the flow of fluids in process equipment. They are used to adjust the flow rate, pressure, and temperature of the process stream to maintain optimal process conditions.

Safety relief valves

These are critical components that protect equipment and personnel from overpressure conditions. They are designed to open automatically when the pressure exceeds a predetermined level, releasing excess pressure and preventing equipment damage or personnel injury.

Distributed Control System (DCS)

This refers to a system used to control complex processes in industries such as manufacturing, oil and gas, power generation, and more. DCS systems consist of multiple interconnected control elements that work together to monitor and manage various aspects of a process.

Programmable Logic Control (PLC)

A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is a specialized digital computer used in industrial and manufacturing settings to control and automate various processes and machinery. PLCs are designed to handle real-time control tasks, making them integral to the automation of complex systems.

Emergency Shutdown System (ESD)

An Emergency Shutdown System (ESD) is a safety mechanism implemented in industrial facilities and processes to bring the operation rapidly and automatically to a safe state in the event of an emergency or hazardous situation. The primary goal of an ESD system is to protect personnel, equipment, and the environment by quickly shutting down critical processes or equipment when conditions deviate from safe operating parameters.

Machine Monitoring and Protection System

A Machine Monitoring and Protection System is a specialized technology used in industrial settings to monitor, analyze, and safeguard the performance and condition of machinery and equipment. The primary purpose is to ensure the optimal operation of machines, prevent unexpected failures, and enhance overall productivity by providing real-time insights into the health and status of critical equipment.

OT cyber security

OT cybersecurity involves securing the practices and technologies used to monitor, detect, and control changes to OT infrastructure, ensuring the safety, integrity, and continuity of operations. OT includes systems like industrial control systems (ICS), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, distributed control systems (DCS), and programmable logic controllers (PLC)

Key interactions

Internal: The Senior/Control System Engineer will interact with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Safety, Environmental personnel, and third-party contractors – Control Systems works at RPI in designated areas.
