Job purpose

Lead, develop, and provide judgments on the operability, availability, and reliability of the organization’s processes under the authority of the Head of Technical Support. Accountable for optimizing, controlling, and ensuring the safety of processes, delivering robust technical leadership on modification and innovation proposals, and guiding internal teams or external contractors in these areas. Oversee operational support projects in line with company guidelines and international standards to ensure the availability and reliability of gas network equipment, optimize cost and resource use, facilitate smooth operations to the operational targets and business needs and guarantee the operations meet environmental, health and safety requirements.

 

The position will act by the organization’s mission, vision, values, policies, and guidelines, supported by an IT technology platform, HSE standards, Oman government and other legal justifications and best international practices aligned with national objectives.

Mandate QHSSE Obligations

  • Implement framework and systems, set and monitor Objectives and KPI to support HSE Vision
  • Be the HSE role model, implement Reward and Recognition and Consequence Management consistently to promote behavioural culture in support of the HSE Vision.
  • Coach, mentor, communicate, and get feedback from stakeholders on achievements and limitations of HSE Objectives and KPI 

Mandate Culture Obligations

Holding this role, you will be acting as the ambassador associate to your Team members, leading initiatives, promoting behaviours, making decisions that align with our OQGN cultural principles, and ensuring their growth and their valuable contributions towards our organization’s long-term success.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide technical support across all operation regions to ensure safe and efficient asset operation as per NGSA specifications.
  • Convince and influence relevant parties to adopt new concepts and practices in the Gas Network.
  • Offer strong advice on production, transportation, processing, storage, contract management, and markets.
  • Lead expertise in Gas Facility networks, including pipelines, compressors, terminals, and valves, focusing on pressure, flow, and quality.
  • Standardize existing facilities to meet current national and international standards and optimize them to enhance efficiency.
  • Prepare and update standard operating procedures and plant operating manuals.
  • Implement field change proposals without disrupting operations and manage Re-HAZOP and Re-IPF activities to identify risks and gaps.
  • Collect and interpret efficiency and budget data for senior management.
  • Resolve critical process issues related to operation, schedule, and cost.
  • Initiate and implement continuous improvements in Compressor Stations, GSSs, and pipelines.
  • Make decisions on technical issues, budgets, project schedules, and safety with minimal supervision.
  • Support project teams by participating in reviews such as Design Review, HAZOP, IPF, and QRA.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to address complex processes (design, operability, availability, integrity, instrumentation, control) issues.
  • Conduct process simulations using HYSYS, UNISIM, TGNET, and Flare Net.
  • Train and guide junior team members, including trainee engineers.
  • Represent operations in debottlenecking and optimization studies, involving system interface advancements and verifying GSS control valve configurations.

Working Conditions

Primarily office-based, occasional travel, and sporadic visits to the operation site.

Education requirements

Bachelor’s Degree  or equivalent.

Language

Preferable English and Arabic

Experience and background

  • 10 – 12 years of experience in process optimization, gas compression, transportation, reduction and process control

  • Knowledge of reading and interpreting P&ID, PFD, DCS, and SCADA
