Job purpose

Executing the business development activities under the Head of Business Development. Provide technical, technological, and commercial expertise to support business development and growth opportunities for OQGN in new ventures, including but not limited to the transportation of new gaseous molecules (e.g., Hydrogen and CO2) and new NG opportunities. Responsible for building, assessing, and developing various models and calculations for the assessment of new business opportunities, whether in natural gas transportation or other molecules. Developing and analyzing commercial models and tariff estimates for new ventures, and supporting commercial decisions for all sales, in accordance with contract terms, to ensure the continued, efficient, and sustainable operation of the business.

 

The position will act in accordance with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and Strategies, as well as policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT platform, HSE standards, the Omani government and other legal justifications, and best global practices aligned with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Responsible for implementing OQGN’s long-term strategies for network infrastructure development, business growth, diversification, expansion, energy efficiency, and decarbonization.
  • Define and execute OQGN’s diversification and alternative energy strategy, including hydrogen transportation and storage, HC transportation, and gas network acquisitions, considering full economics, feasibility, life cycle assessment, and investment proposals.
  • Responsible for executing communications impacting OQGN’s strategic position as Oman’s national energy transporter with various external stakeholders.
  • Support in developing the growth strategies for OQGN, evaluating new business ventures technically and commercially through acquisitions, deal delivery, or new projects.
  • Executing the OQGN’s growth through regulated and non-regulated business opportunities from a techno-commercial perspective.
  • Ensure OQGN’s strategic role in energy transportation by securing agreements that align with its vision and mission.
  • Support in identifying the short and long-term budgeting for business development and integrating it into the business plan.
  • Supervise third-party technical evaluations and manage consultants.
  • Prepare teasers, memorandums, management presentations, and commercial proposals.
  • Participate in management presentations and opportunity discussions.
  • Coach and train junior and trainee engineers.
  • Engage in structuring, negotiating, and executing network expansion deals, providing market intelligence and strategic inputs for future projects.

Working Conditions

Primarily office-based, occasional travel, and sporadic visits to the operational site.

Education requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.

Language

Preferable English and Arabic.

Experience and background

From 5 to 8 years of experience in business development and commercial, studies, and strategies in the oil and gas sectors.

  • Technical engineering terminology in English & and Arabic languages.
  • HSE, finance, budget, and reporting.
  • Process Safety Management and risk management.
  • Understanding the international standards of hydrocarbon accounting and the oil business
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
