Job purpose

Executes Financial Accounting activities, under Manager Financial Accounting scope’s acting as a specialist, and team player for Financial accounting services through: (1) Executes the non-standard accounting, (2) Cross functional and cross business monthly, quarterly and annual process for closing the books and consolidating the financial results., (3) Executes group accounting standards and local GAPP (IFRS), and (4) contribute to maintain the Company Accounting Policy Manual; in order to support financial goals and objectives of the Company while ensuring compliance with both local and international accounting standards for all group entities.

 

The position will act in accordance with the Company’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Professionally qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Strong experience in accounting with a focus on costing, inventory accounting, and product costing within a manufacturing or refinery environment.
  • Proven knowledge of inventory valuation and revaluation methodologies, gross margin analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Experience in process review, documentation, and implementation of control or efficiency improvements.
  • Exposure to ERP systems and collaboration with IT/IDS teams on system enhancements or automation initiatives.
  • Experience in supporting internal and external audit requirements and responding to business and management queries.

Scope of Work (High-Level):

 

  • At a high level, establish and enhance internal documentation summarizing the nature of inventory, key processes, controls, and inventory revaluation mechanisms.
  • Perform a high-level review of existing inventory revaluation processes and, in coordination with the IDS department, develop a comprehensive understanding of current systems and workflows to identify and implement improvement initiatives.
  • At a strategic level, propose and support automation and process enhancement initiatives aimed at reducing the cycle time of monthly product costing and inventory revaluation while improving data accuracy, consistency, and reporting quality.
  • Provide high-level support to monthly inventory revaluation and gross margin reporting processes, respond to business queries, and support external audit activities as required.
  • Attend to any financial accounting relevant activities.

Notable Working Conditions. Office environment, intensive computer screen use, sporadic visits to operation site.

Education requirements

Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field , Professional accounting certification (desirable)

Language

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) ,Arabic - Native (desirable)

 

Background and experience

  • Specialist : 5- 8 years of relevant experience
  • Sr. Specialist : .8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Capabilities in a similar role will be preferred.
  • Experience in Non-Standard Accounting.
  • Oil and Gas / Energy industry experience essential.
  • Deep working understanding of financial reporting and analysis.
  • Experience in dealing with third parties such as state audit, MoF, lenders and investors.
