Job purpose

 

The Logistics Specialist supports the day-to-day execution of outbound logistics operations within OQM’s Global Supply Chain. Key responsibilities include (1) Executing local and international logistics plans in line with business requirements (2) Coordinating with shipping lines and logistics partners to ensure a seamless outbound process (3) Organizing shipment routes to meet company and client needs (4) Managing the delivery of OQM orders and resolving related concerns to achieve operational efficiency and exceptional customer experience (5) Preparing client communications, tracking shipments, and maintaining accurate shipping records.

The role ensures cost-effective, timely export operations through effective vendor management, while contributing to the overall goals of the Global Supply Chain function.

 

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other territorial legal jurisdictions, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

  • Main tasks and responsibilities

Scope

Executing local and international logistics plans

Managing the delivery of OQM orders

Coordinating with shipping lines and logistics partners

Stakeholders Communications.

 

Accountabilities

Local and international logistic plans

  • Analysis and execution of logistic plans and support.
  • Ensure all Logistic plans are developed on a timely basis.

Shipments

  • Prepares the organization of all shipments in line with company requirements, as per priorities in coordination with OQM internal stakeholders and the Logistics Service Providers (LSP).
  • Ensure all shipments are organized in line with the requirements and priorities.
  • Ensure optimum routes are analysed and proposed with recommendations.  

Stakeholders Communications

  • Coordinate with OQM different teams to ensure all logistics inquiries are addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Offers advice to clients on selecting optimum shipping routes.
  • Maintains relationships with clients and tracks/keeps shipping records.
  • Ensure the delivery schedule is prepared and communicated to relevant departments.
  • Ensure to maintain an excellent client relationship.

Reports

  • Produces required reports on activities based on the set suitable KPIs.
  • Ensure shipment records are up to date.

 

Key interactions

Internal: Global Supply chain team Global sales team, Global Marketing Team, and RPI Credit Team

External: Regional Agents/distributors, Customers, stakeholders, Traders, Dealers, consultants, end-users. Regional Customers, Government, ports, terminal, logistics service providers (LSP’s). Create trusting and positive relationships including Key Opinion Leaders, Academia, and Speakers.

Notable Working Conditions. Office environment, intensive computer screen use, traveling

Education requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering/ Logistics/Supply chain/ Economic / Finance/ Business or equivalent.

Language requirements 

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken language of the local or targeted market

Competencies and skills

 

  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong expertise in Logistics Processes and Shipping Terms.
  • Knowledge on transportation laws and regulations
  • Aware of International transportation rules & IMO regulations

  • Dynamic self-starter with an ability to “get things done”.
