Job purpose

Manage Projects at OQ Alternative Energy Project Delivery for any assigned opportunity, acting as owner’s project delivery execution manager. Additionally, providing overall project leadership for the execution and actualization of project goals, scope requirements, risk and mitigations, cost controls, schedule and project performance to achieve the value promised during final investment decision.

The position will act as per the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Participation in preparing assurance gates deliverables.
• Establish, define, and specify the technical requirements and specifications for tendering of projects as part of project delivery requirements.
• Leading the preparation of the execution strategy, RFP documents, evaluation processes and award.
• Overall responsibility for coordinating the project team during the engineering, construction, Project monitoring and control and commissioning of the Solar and Wind Projects.
• Monitor the work of EPC contractors, suppliers and subcontractors and lead design and constructability reviews and approvals ensure projects conform to EPC contract and other contractual obligations, including scope of work,  technical requirements, standards, specifications, schedules, and budget.
• Responsible of stakeholder management including all interfaces of the project to ensure smooth execution and no delays to the project approved schedule.
• Establishing and implementing the Project execution Plans, HSSE Plans and Quality management plans.
• Providing, maintaining and presenting the project progress dashboards and reports to the top management.
• Maintaining all project critical documentation.
• Managing and maintaining all required execution permits.
• Coordinating and supporting the business development unit in required technical and project management skills to ensure the project reaches Final Investment Decision.

Key interactions:

Internal:  Liaise with business development units and departments within OQAE and OQ, functional leaders, other internal stakeholders and Project Companies for day-to-day work.

External: EPC contractors, vendors, subcontractors, regulators, government offices, external consultants, landlords, external stakeholders.

Notable Working Conditions: Office environment, frequent travel, and visits to sites. Moderate to intensive computer screen use.

Education requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Renewable Energy/Power/Energy Engineering, or related field.

Language requirements

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required), Arabic - Native (desirable)

Background and experience

Competencies and skills

• +12 years’ experience in Project management positions for utility scale renewable energy projects.
• Project Management Professional certificates
• Deep knowledge of solar PV and Wind technologies and plants.
• Experienced with tendering, evaluation of tenders, IPP contract management and working with Contractors and sub-Contractors.

• Strong coordination & leadership skills & should be able to work collaboratively with all involved.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and multi-cultural sensitivity.
• Computer literate with expertise in MS Office.
• Able to effectively interface with stakeholders and manage contractors.
• Experienced in resource control, communication, and general project management skills.
