Job purpose

Lead all technical processes related to quality standards and ensure compliance to all quality procedures across all projects in Upstream – E&P according to best practices and OQ standards under Head of Project Services’ scope, acting as owner of QA/QC project standards.  Manage and assign resources to ensure QA/QC standards are implemented across all projects. Assure proper custody, preservation, updating, accuracy, and availability of the project QA/QC information. Monitor all quality-related processes and provide Quality advice for Engineering and Projects to effectively contribute to the technical compliance of all projects. 

 

The position will act in accordance with the OQEP’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • In consultation with Project Delivery Skill-pool, assign appropriate QA/QC engineering resources to Project Delivery projects and monitor performance to ensure all QA/QC engineering deliverables are accomplished. 
  • Review and check QA/QC documents produced during the FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction and to ensure compliance to international design codes.
  • Review and check project QA/QC standards and specifications to ensure adequacy to meet safe operability and maintainability.
  • Utilize QA/QC contract with QA/QC service agency to provide inspection services during project execution.
  • Scrutinize the development of inspection and test plans throughout for procurement and construction phases.
  • Attend or arrange inspectors to attend FAT and SAT as per inspection and test plans.
  • Audit contractors and vendors as required by the project standards.
  • Support the management of the QA/QC contract and organize the resources as required.
  • Interface with another discipline engineering to ensure QA/QC requirements are satisfactorily addressed.
  • Prepare justifications, the scope of work, man-hour estimates for accommodating changes/modifications during the design stage as well as during the operation period.
  • Inspect project site to monitor HSE, progress, and ensure conformance to design specifications and project standards.
  • Train and coach junior engineers, prepare their training and career development plans, monitor and report their progress.

Key interactions

Internal: Liaise with colleagues within Projects, functional leaders, and other internal stakeholders for day-to-day work.

External: Contractors, vendors, national government offices, external consultants   

Notable Working Conditions. Office environment, frequent travel, and visits to the operational sites. Moderate to intensive computer screen use.

Education requirements

Minimum qualification for this position is a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related.

Language requirements 

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) | Arabic - Native (desirable)
