Job purpose

Lead the execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual group financial consolidations and external reporting activities in line with IFRS, Group accounting policies, and regulatory standards. The role is pivotal in ensuring accurate and timely delivery of group-level financials to support the Corporate Scorecard KPIs, statutory reporting, and audit readiness. Acts as the key operational lead under the Head of Financial Accounting, overseeing technical accounting, consolidation processes, audit coordination, and continuous system enhancement (SAP-BPC), while mentoring a team of finance professionals.

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

1. Group Financial Consolidation & Reporting

·       Lead the preparation of accurate, complete, and audit-compliant consolidated financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual) using SAP-BPC for a multi-entity, multi-jurisdictional Group.

·       Manage integrity of reporting to ELT, BARC, Board, and other senior stakeholders by ensuring consistency across subsidiary submissions and intercompany eliminations.

·       Supervise the consolidation process including elimination of intercompany balances, resolution of mismatches, and application of partial ownership and NCI adjustments.

 

2. Financial Close Governance & Control

·       Own and manage the monthly financial close calendar and deliverables across all entities (TBs, input forms, reconciliations, and validations).

·       Review and approve financial data loaded into SAP-BPC by subsidiaries to ensure compliance with IFRS and Group policies.

·       Drive the monthly CFO sign-off process and track compliance across group entities.

 

3. Technical Accounting & Policy Implementation

·       Analyze complex accounting matters (e.g., business combinations, impairments, JV accounting, EPSA treatments) and ensure appropriate IFRS application.

·       Draft technical position papers for internal governance and external audit review.

·       Contribute to the implementation of new or amended IFRS standards and support Group-wide compliance initiatives.

·       Maintain and update the Group Accounting Policy Manual in collaboration with the Principal Financial Accounting, ensuring consistent adoption across the Group.

 

4. External Audit & Statutory Reporting Coordination

·       Serve as a key contact for external auditors during interim and year-end audits, managing audit schedules and resolving technical queries.

·       Coordinate audit readiness across subsidiaries, supporting the timely closure of audit observations and Key Audit Matters (KAMs).

·       Review and provide feedback on subsidiary-level financial statements to ensure consistency with Group-level disclosures and accounting treatments.

 

5. Financial Systems Enhancement & Automation

·       Collaborate with SAP-BPC support teams to enhance automation, reduce manual interventions, and improve performance and usability of consolidation tools.

·       Support ongoing BPC enhancements and provide feedback on functional improvements aligned with business needs.

·       Promote adoption of data validation controls and reporting accuracy initiatives across subsidiaries.

 

6. Cross-functional Collaboration

·       Work closely with Legal and Finance Functions to ensure consistent accounting treatment and reporting alignment.

·       Provide accounting input on matters such as dividend declarations, shareholder agreements, cost sharing, and capital structure planning.

·       Act as a finance business partner to Group companies and nominee directors by supporting Board and AGM financial package reviews.

 

7. Talent Development & Team Leadership

·       Supervise and mentor a team of Financial Accountants, providing day-to-day guidance, technical coaching, and performance feedback.

·       Support succession planning and capability building within the Financial Accounting team, in line with the broader departmental transformation vision..

·       Promote a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and IFRS proficiency within the team.

 

8. Governance, Compliance & Process Excellence

·       Ensure full adherence to Group accounting policies, audit protocols, and documentation standards.

·       Support the Head of Financial Accounting in fulfilling regulatory reporting requirements, including XBRL and Agreed Upon Procedures (AUPs).

·       Identify gaps in the consolidation and reporting process, and recommend improvement opportunities to drive efficiency, accuracy, and audit readiness.

Education requirements

·       Minimum qualification required is a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Administration, with Master or any other qualification is a plus.

·       Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant designations (CA/ACCA/CTA/CTP) or equivalent professional qualification required.

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required)

Background and experience

Competencies and skills

· Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or team lead capacity in a complex group environment (preferably oil & gas or large industrial sector).

· Advanced knowledge of SAP (ECC and BPC), Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools.

· Oil and Gas / Energy industry experience essential (including Upstream and Downstream exposure) upstream and downstream exposure).

· Deep working understanding of financial reporting and analysis.

· Strong experience in the following areas:

1. Finance and Accounting Services & Standards

o    Expertise in implementing and managing financial accounting processes across global entities, ensuring compliance with IFRS, US GAAP, and local GAAP.

o    Skilled in maintaining robust internal controls and governance frameworks for accurate financial data and successful audits.

2. Consolidation and Management Reporting

o    Extensive experience in group-level financial consolidations, integrating data from subsidiaries, associates, and joint ventures.

o    Proficient in external reporting, statutory financial statements, and regulatory disclosures.

o    Skilled in leveraging tools like BPC and SAP for accurate and efficient reporting.

3. Leadership in Financial Reporting and Complex Accounting Matters

o    Successfully led financial reporting and consolidations.

o    Experience in guiding teams through complex financial projects like mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.

4. Knowledge of Accounting Standards and SEC Requirements

o    Strong understanding of reporting requirements under IFRS and local GAAP.

o    Expertise in regulatory compliance and aligning accounting policies with evolving standards.
