Job purpose

To lead and oversee Asset Integrity across OQEP operated assets, ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of facilities and pipelines. The role owns asset integrity standards and inspection governance, addressing complex technical issues across core engineering disciplines to sustain mechanical availability and operational continuity. Through the development and execution of robust inspection, corrosion, and materials, frameworks aligned with international industry standards, the position safeguards static equipment, piping, and pipelines integrity. The role ensures risk-based decision-making, regulatory compliance, and technical assurance to protect people, environment, and asset value—ultimately supporting operational excellence, asset longevity, and sustainable business performance for OQEP.

The position will act in accordance with the OQEP’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, QHSE & Energy Management System requirements standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Ensure systematic and timely inspections and recommendations to maximize static equipment & piping mechanical availability
  • Identify and implement specialized inspection programs to minimize intrusive inspections and maximize equipment mechanical availability
  • Coordinate with technical services and project delivery departments to provide input based on observations from failures for continuous improvement and design specifications
  • Monitoring of individual performance and KPI’s for timely update and feedback to team members and management.
  • Developing staff development plan and coaching programs
  • Leading and advance digital transformation initiatives for Asset Integrity and corrosion
  • Ensure a safe working environment in compliance with all company and governmental rules and regulations

 

Integrity (Wells Integrity,

  • Execute all necessary asset integrity management related activities to ensure timely integrity support for maintenance, external contractors, operation, planning and others as appropriate
  • Ensure establishment and implementation (RBI) Risk Based Inspection programs and plans which ensure focused and optimized inspections in order to optimize inspection and maintenance costs through a focused process and system 
  • Oversee the Inspection, analysis & recommendations maximizing interval between intrusive inspections equipment,
  • Ensure the inspection contains the highest standards as per procedures, specifications, applicable and codes
  • Oversee and ensure compliance to WIMS (Well Integrity Management System) guidelines/ system for the well life cycle for OQEP.
  • To supervise well problems related to integrity, recommend cost-effective investigative and/or corrective measures
  • Reviewing the compliance to the WIMS standards in all fields and recommending areas of improvement to enhance compliance
  • To supervise Well Integrity Testing (WIT) & Subsurface Integrity Testing (SIT) maintenance & testing plans as per OQEP requirements and follow up on actions.
  • To develop & implement well integrity KPI
  • Budget estimation for all integrity aspects of wells, pipelines, and static. 
  • Support and supervise recommendation of major repairs to fixed equipment and piping.
  • Ensure maintaining auditable record system of inspection and inspection results
  •  

Corrosion & Material Selection

  • Ensure procedures and systems in place for systematic failure analysis to achieve reduced repeat failures and defect elimination
  • Provide technical support and guidance regarding the cost-effective selection of materials, corrosion mitigation, corrosion monitoring strategies to ensure the technical integrity of the materials applied in subsurface and surface hydrocarbon production, processing and transportation systems throughout their design life.
  • Review corrosion monitoring programs to identify and recommend timely actions to improve mechanical availability.
  • Overseeing corrosion monitoring and control programs and systems to ensure plant and equipment meet the required company standards, applicable codes of practice department strategies and company policy.
  • Lead the technical interaction with different department on subject related to Materials and Corrosion. Expertise on various materials, like CS, SS, DSS and non-metallics like RTP and GRP.
  • Establish systems and procedures to ensure internal project QA/QC related to Materials, Corrosion, and Integrity to minimize failures due to poor quality.
  • Monitor and improve the quality of Materials, Corrosion, and Integrity including the design of quality standards, inspection of materials, equipment, processes and develop quality Control system with corrective actions;

Education requirements

Bachelor’s in engineering, or related.

Language requirements 

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required), Arabic - Native (desirable)

Background and experience

  • 8+ years of experience in relevant position

  • Must have industry certifications such as ASME, API, NDT or NACE/AMPP
  • Knowledge in software applications like APM and CMMS etc.

  • Corrosion Monitoring Techniques & Corrosion Inhibitors and Corrosion Control Measures
  • Coating And Cathodic Protection
  • NACE, ASME and other industry codes
  • RBI, RCA and Defect Elimination.
  • Risk Assessments, HAZOPS & Safety
  • Good knowledge in QA/QC, ISO 9001, ISO 1400 and HSE plans
  • Knowledge & experience in NDT & specialized equipment inspection techniques.
  • Certification Holder of National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE/AMPP) certification is an advantage
  • Knowledge of inspection, corrosion engineering, welding, materials and QA / QC.
  • Experience and well versed in field investigation, inspections, troubleshooting, performance checks, data compilation, etc.
  • Understanding of Process Plant (P& ID / PFD) & Engineering drawings and OEM manuals.
