Job purpose

 

To provide robust Production Engineering duties to the Subsurface development in areas of field development with Operated Assets - Subsurface, under TL Production Engineer BISAT Development by planning production, well design & completion, applying production engineering practices to well & reservoir management, well design and completion, IPM; for the production in significant oil / gas deposits.

 

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Lead, develop & provide operability, availability and reliability judgements on systems related with optimization of production by providing robust technical judgement on modification / innovation proposals in accordance with project requirements (Subsurface), and other relevant standards and while ensuring safety and reliability and provides guidance to junior engineers, trainees, and teams.
  • Mentor and coaching Production engineers’ staff to improve their skills and develop them into self-sufficient performers
  • Optimize wells production through daily well surveillance monitoring and troubleshooting of well performance issues.
  • Direct responsibility for a range of activities, including well surveillance, Frac jobs design and implementations, well-testing, artificial lift selection and design, completion and workover designs and execution, developing well intervention proposals, wells stimulation design and execution.
  • Analyze and interpret information from the field using available engineering tools for making recommendations aiming at optimizing production and supporting field development
  • Contribute to monthly production planning and reservoir surveillance planning as required
  • Direct responsibility for monitoring wells failure rates and conducting the required RCFA recommending solutions to reduce such rates.
  • Participate in integrated field studies for maturing hydrocarbon resources
  • Evaluate well/reservoir performance and recommend production improvement opportunities
  • Provide PE input to business planning and well proposals, participate in preparation of development plans and optimization studies to ensure project value is maximized.
  • Work closely with Reservoir Engineers and Geologists to maximize the value of assigned assets.

Education requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent
  • Master’s degree (preferred)

Language requirements

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) - Arabic - Native (desirable)

  • 8 + years of relevant experience

 

  • Experience in Exploration for New Ventures / JVs / Operated Assets
  • Experience in multidisciplinary integrated teams and contribution to exploration opportunity risking and ranking.
  • Experience in technical reviews, audits and preparation of Field Development Plans
  • Track record of deadline delivery and result oriented
  • Certifications (desirable)
    • Standard and emergency first aid
    • H2S Alive
    • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Relevant software experience, Landmark, Petrel and ArcGIS is preferred
  • Demonstrated strong experience in the following fields:
    • Experience in well & reservoir management, production operations and completion procedures
    • Experience in working with multi- disciplinary team
    • Experience in using PETEX IPM suite of tools is an advantage
    • Experience in tight gas reservoirs is a “plus”.
