Job purpose
Support the legal function by providing accurate and timely legal advice, drafting and reviewing contracts, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role focuses on executing day-to-day legal, compliance, governance tasks, assisting in complex transactions under supervision, and contributing to risk management initiatives.
The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities
- Legal Support
- Provide accurate and timely legal advice on routine business matters, including contract interpretation, regulatory compliance, and operational issues.
- Assist senior legal counsel in analysing complex legal questions and preparing recommendations for management decisions.
- Conduct legal research on applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards to support business operations and minimize risk.
- Legal Documentation & Transaction Support
- Draft, review, and negotiate standard agreements such as vendor contracts, service agreements, confidentiality agreements, and procurement documents.
- Ensure all documentation complies with legal requirements and organizational policies.
- Support due diligence processes for transactions by collecting and reviewing relevant documentation, identifying potential risks, and preparing summary reports for senior counsel.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency in legal documentation.
- Legal Corporate Compliance
- Monitor compliance with internal policies and external regulations, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
- Assist in implementing governance frameworks and preparing compliance reports for management review.
- Contract Management
- Maintain a centralized repository of all contracts and agreements, ensuring proper filing and accessibility.
- Track contract milestones, renewal dates, and obligations to ensure timely compliance and execution.
- Monitor adherence to contractual terms and escalate any deviations or risks to senior legal staff.
- Regulatory Regimes & Compliance
- Research and interpret relevant laws, regulations, and compliance requirements impacting the organization’s operations.
- Identify potential legal risks in business processes and propose practical solutions to mitigate exposure.
- Prepare reports and summaries on regulatory developments and communicate implications to internal stakeholders.
- Network Relations
- Act as a liaison for routine legal queries from internal departments, providing guidance or escalating complex issues to senior counsel.
- Coordinate with external legal advisors for document preparation, case updates, and specialized legal opinions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal considerations are integrated into business decisions and project planning.

Education requirements
|
- A minimum qualification of LLB or equivalent from a reputable university or law school with admission to a recognized civil or common law Bar (or equivalent body), in other words, qualified as a lawyer/solicitor/barrister.

Excellent written and spoken English is a must.

- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience with a recognized law firm and/or in-house legal and compliance function within a recognised corporate entity
- Proven experience in corporate and commercial law, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of contracts and agreements
- Strong background in regulatory compliance, governance frameworks, and risk management practices.
- Demonstrated ability to provide practical legal advice on day-to-day business operations and strategic initiatives.
- Experience in policy development and implementation, ensuring alignment with applicable laws and internal standards is an addition, but the ability to interpret is mandatory.
- Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate legal and compliance risks across diverse business activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.
- Communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external advisors.
