Job purpose
Monitors, reviews, and evaluates the performance of multiple Joint Venture (JV) assets operated by partner International Oil Companies (IOCs) under OQEP’s Joint Ventures Directorate. Ensures that all activities related to asset development plans, reservoir management, and business performance are aligned with approved Field Development Plans (FDPs), budgets, and corporate objectives. The role supports the assessment of technical reserves, growth opportunities, and new asset proposals, ensuring optimal value creation and compliance with Exploration and Production Sharing Agreements (EPSAs) and Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs). OQEP’s Joint Venture assets require intensive asset management, continuous monitoring, and due diligence to protect OQEP’s investment and maximize its value share. The role provides insights and recommendations to drive operational efficiency, maximize economic recovery, and sustain long-term business performance across OQEP’s JV-operated blocks.
This position will act in accordance with the OQEP’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justification’s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities
- Perform multi-discipline assessments for joint venture assets, with more focus on petroleum engineering evaluations and analysis, including asset performance and business reviews.
- Represents OQEP in various technical and techno-commercial official meetings with partners and government.
- Review the performance of OQEP JV assets and ensure alignment with the agreed field development and reservoir surveillance plans proposed by operator and ensure optimization for maximum economic recovery.
- Review annual work program and budget of operators and provide written summaries of analyses to OQEP management prior to approval by Joint Operating/Management Committees.
- Prepare, in collaboration with appropriate departments, alternative development strategies to take account of market changes and disruptions encountered or anticipated.
- Review with and obtain OQEP’s concurrence on any deviations from the originally approved WP&B and/or any remedial measures proposed by operator prior to attending any meetings with partners.
- Review and coordinate the update of the technical reserves estimation and reporting related to JV assets.
- Ensuring that the management of JV assets are in line with the EPSAs, JOAs and that the projects proposals and developments are robust and meet OQEP’s economic screening criteria.
- Challenge and manage expenses on upstream exploration and development investments and, together with the operator, ensure that the value of the asset to stakeholders is not compromised.
- Provide cost effective and performance enhancing solutions to aid asset development decision-making.
- Provide and review production and cost forecasts for the assets.

Education requirements
|
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or related
|

Language requirements
|
Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) Arabic - Native (desirable)

Competencies and skills
|
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Petroleum Engineering, preferably within upstream oil and gas operations or joint venture asset management. Proven track record in reservoir engineering, field development planning, and performance evaluation, with strong exposure to technical and commercial aspects of Exploration and Production Sharing Agreements (EPSAs) and Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs).
- Well-rounded professional with strong background in Petroleum Engineering, G&G or Engineering, budget control, adaptable and motivated general management strategist who relishes challenges.

- Strong management & leadership skills to lead all aspects of the Asset management process & should be able to work collaboratively with all involved.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and multi-cultural sensitivity.
- Computer literate with expertise in MS Office.
