Job purpose

 

Oversees the Global logistics for Polymers export under VP Global Supply Chain scope, by leading and supervising the execution of outbound and inbound logistics by (1) Planning, development and execution of a)Inbound logistics activities :bagging lines & warehousing and Inventory management, b) outbound/global logistics associated for  the designated regions with total operating cost of $100+ Million, (2)  Lead the analysis and execution of the day-to-day operations for required regional logistic solutions and plans the organization of shipments routes in line with company/clients requirements, including the effective verification and validation  of export documentation, coordination and preparation of international delivery schedules and communication with clients to tracks/keeps shipping records, (3)  Plan the Logistics procurement / contracts related to those operations, and (4) Oversees the execution of the Urea Sales & Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Oman India Fertilizer Company SAOC (OMIFCO); In order to ensure cost effectiveness and timely management using vendors for exports of carriage, and contributing with Supply Chain function with its goals.

 

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & & other territorial legal jurisdictions, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Accountabilities:

 

Logistics Planning & Business Development

  • Planning the development of global logistics to achieve OQ Marketing strategies with an operating cost of $56 Million associated for the designated regions.
  •  Lead the development, of logistic plans in order to organize logistics operations in the designated area for Supply Chain function.
  • Lead the development of new business opportunities for logistics Operations.
  • Establishes and continuously monitor suitable KPIs for measuring logistic performance.
  • Suggest and contributes to the enhancement of logistics process with focus and emphases on digitalisation initiatives and IT solutions.
  • Whenever required and as per the VP of Global supply chain direction, Act as a Global Coordinator with the other Regions to oversee Global opportunities that contribute the overall enhancement of logistics performance and take advantage of economies of scale

Inbound Logistics

  • Oversees the polymer product warehouse operations starting from production silos up to trucks loading. With focus on meeting the operations efficiency, cost optimisation an minimize inventory holding costs, and optimize production efficiency.
  • Oversee the interfaces with all stakeholders including HSE, maintenance, LSP…etc.
  •  including the following processes:
    • HSE
    • Procurement,
    • Bagging line
    • Inventory management,
    • Warehousing,
    • Material handling

Outbound Logistics

  • Oversees the movement of finished products from Polymer product wheelhouse to the end customer or distribution centre to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers while minimizing transportation costs and maximizing customer satisfaction including:
    • Oder processing,
    • Picking,
    • Packing,
    • Transportation in trucks or containers
    • Delivery to the final destination via sea or road or any other means deemed to be necessary.
  • Lead the organization of all regional and international shipments in line with company requirements, as per priorities in order to provide efficiency and effective services.
  • Lead the analysis and execution of the day-to-day operations for required regional logistic solutions and plans the organization of shipments routes in line with company/clients’ requirements, including:
    • the effective verification and validation of export documentation,  
    • Coordination and preparation of international delivery schedules and communication with clients to tracks/keeps shipping records.
    • Ensures the integrity of export documentation to ensure uninterrupted logistics operation.
    • Ensures preparation and maintenance of a delivery schedule and communicates to all relevant departments in order to maintain updated and informed all the involved parties.
  • Ensure all shipments are organized in line with the requirements and priorities.
  • Maintains relationships with clients and tracks/keeps shipping records updated.
  • Offers advice to clients on selecting optimum shipping routes in order to keep transparency of the process and offer to client alternatives for best services (value/effectiveness).
  • Interact with various agencies related with supply activities: customers/channel partners/ Logistic contractors/Finance/ Polymer Operations.
  • Capable to build an efficient / cost effective logistics solution with LSP’s where maximum gross margins are achieved.

Logistics Procurement / Contracts

  • Along with OQM procurement function,  Support the procurement of logistics in accordance with the business requirement and company policies.
  • Manage associated Logistics contracts

Supervisory

  • Recommends people development and retention plans. Coach to improve individual and team performance.

 

Sales & Operation Urea

  • Lead the Sales & Operation Urea as per Sale & Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Oman India Fertilizer Company SAOC (OMIFCO)
  • Collaborate with the sales and operations teams to align logistics plans with sales forecasts and production schedules for urea products.
  • Participate in S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) meetings to review demand projections, inventory levels, and logistics capacity.
  • Develop logistics strategies to support sales targets, optimize inventory levels, and meet customer demand for urea products.

 

 

Key interactions

Internal: Global Sales, Global Marketing and Global Supply chain, operations and HSE. 

External: Regional Agents/distributors, Customers, stakeholders, Traders, Dealers, consultants, end-users. Regional Customers, Government, ports, terminal, logistics service providers (LSP’s). Create trusting and positive relationships including Key Opinion Leaders, Academia, and Speakers

Notable Working Conditions. Office environment, Warehouse visits and intensive computer screen use, traveling.

Education requirements

Minimum Qualification is bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations management,engineering/ Economic / Finance/ Business or equivalent.

  • 10+ years of experience
  • Overall experience in same function, preferable same role. 
  • Experience managing regional logistics requirements.
  • General understanding of Polymer markets, and specific geography/ culture of the market
  • Executive presence representing Business.
  • Experience in managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends, technologies, and methodologies in logistics.
