Job purpose

Support the Head of Commercial in leading the end-to-end process/activity related to Upstream Commercial Opportunities at Business OQ and the assigned team, acting as a key contributor to Commercial standards, through (1) supporting Business Development in the formulation of OQ Upstream Commercial strategies and assisting in the setting/management of performance targets, (2) reviewing annual and revised budgets for Commercial and providing written summaries of analyses to Upstream management prior to approval by Joint Operating/Management Committees, (3) overseeing the Commercial team and its KPIs, and assisting in the negotiation and development of Commercial agreements for E&P businesses portfolio, and (4) participating in new asset acquisition studies by advising on economic estimation basis and assessing contractual obligations; in order to ensure the optimum and sustainable net back (people and economics) for Upstream OQ.

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Support in leading strategic growth initiatives of a cross-functional nature for the development of new business areas.
  • Assist in conducting commercial negotiations on key aspects of projects and transactions.
  • Provide guidance and insights for the identification of growth opportunities and addressing shortfalls.
  • Support in overseeing the Commercial team in managing commercial operations and agreements of the E&P businesses.
  • Represent OQEP on commercial matters at Partner meetings, as delegated.
  • Represent Joint Venture meetings and committees, as required.
  • Participate in new asset acquisition studies by advising on economic estimation basis and assessing contractual obligations.
  • Assist in the development and negotiation of new agreements as required by the portfolio, ensuring they adhere to industry standards and best practices while remaining pragmatic and deliverable.
  • Support the management of department resources, planning, and setting KPIs for the team.

Education requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field 

Language requirements 

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) | Arabic - Native (desirable)

Background and experience

Competencies and skills

  • 12+ years of experience in relevant / similar position.
  •  Well-rounded professional with strong background in Commercial and Business Development, adaptable and motivated general management strategist who relishes challenges.
  • Exposure to an IOC environment would be a positive

At least +5 years of previous techno-commercial exposure of developing / Upstream related Commercial Agreements.

Solid project development experience (+8 years) in advisory / consulting role

Strong exposure to new technologies, with responsibility to develop ideas from concept to FID
