Job purpose

Execute OQ Group’s interest in specific companies (assets), under Head of Asset Management, acting as team player & primary liaison between investments assigned and OQ Group as required.  through: (1) Monitor performance of assets and drive value addition of portfolio investments assigned, (2) Provide regular reports on investments that compare actual performance to projected performance & ensure compliance of portfolio to plan, and (3) Assess economic valuation on portfolio companies' risks and develop risk mitigation measures to optimizing the performance &  reliability; in order to drive its performance and push investee companies to achieve effectively and efficiently venture objectives.

 

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Asset Strategy Development

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define asset management strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Support the development of the overall shareholder strategy for assets ensuring alignment with overall corporate objectives and long-term energy transition goals.
  • Review and monitor the implementation of the assets’ business plan in collaboration with planning team, and Board nominees of the asset.
  • Manages cascading of KPIs / strategic initiatives to relevant assets to achieve OQ strategy and targets. 
  • Identifies and develop synergies across the assets within the portfolio.
  • Prepare financial projections in collaboration with planning team, understanding implications on cash flow and profitability of the assets.
  • Provides support on assets divestment activities and its impact on portfolio ensuring that the activities are aligned with overall OQ strategy.
  • Provides support on business development activities for assets under management.

Asset Performance Monitoring

  • Review the performance of asset based on the agreed business plan and KPIs and highlights areas of concern for timely action by the management / shareholder representatives.
  • Support in identification of strategy implementation shortfalls and the recommendation of corrective actions.
  • Establish and maintain accurate and up-to-date asset data covering its operational and financial performance.
  • Communicate the performance of assts to Portfolio management leadership.
  • Identify and assess risks associated with asset operations and develop mitigation plans.

Asset Management and Execution

  • Support the economic evaluation and develop risk mitigation measures.
  • Own overall shareholders’ strategic initiatives plan and monitor progress. Lead the implementation of these initiatives to improve assets value.
  • Support the implementation of the asset appropriate governance.
  • Support the shareholder Board nominees in developing and challenging the strategy / business plan and other initiatives of assets, by actively and regularly engaging with them and providing the right analysis. 
  • Manage the overall interaction between OQ and assets.
  • Act as the focal point for all the information and data required from the asset.

Risk Management

  • Identify and assess risks associated with asset operations and develop mitigation plans. Implement risk management processes and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices

Capital Investment Planning

  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to develop capital investment plans for asset upgrades, replacements, and expansions. Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and business cases to support investment decisions.

Asset Data Management & Reporting

  • Provide regular reports on assets that compare actual performance to projected performance & ensure compliance of portfolio to plan.
  • Generate investment and asset management reports periodically and as and when required
  • Develop, maintain, and review financial models and valuations for existing investments regularly as required.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and implement necessary measures to maintain compliance.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Hold regular discussions / meetings and provide support by being involved in specific tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ensure smooth communication and record keeping between asset owners.
  • Be the primary liaison between companies assigned as asset manager and the rest of Group as required.
  • Participate as required to Group Meetings or Board or Steering Committees of portfolio companies

Continuous Improvement

  • Constantly identify areas of improvement and lead value addition initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in asset management processes, practices, and systems.
  • Monitor industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and enhancement

Notable Working Conditions. Office environment, intensive computer screen use, sporadic visits to operation site.

Education requirements

  • Minimum qualification is a bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or CFA qualifications (preferred)

Language

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) | Arabic - Native (desirable)

  • A minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to apply the knowledge to manage the organization's assets effectively and efficiently.
  • Experience in developing an in-depth understanding of the assets and the industry they operate in, as well as the shareholder strategy.
  • Ability to develop effective reporting system to track the performance of the assets to ensure that they are meeting the shareholder's expectations.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and familiarity with lean principles Knowledge of financial analysis and capital budgeting.
  • Financial accounting concepts and corporate finance skills
  • Strong financial modelling skills. Ability to build MS Excel based financial models from scratch.
