Job purpose
Support the development of renewable energy projects, including solar PV, wind, energy storage, and emerging low-carbon technologies, by leading electrical engineering activities during pre-FID stages. The role ensures projects are technically feasible, grid-compliant, cost-optimized, and bankable, supporting investment decisions and project progression to Final Investment Decision (FID).
The position is responsible for delivering electrical engineering support across Project Delivery, Technology & LCM Integration under the Engineering Manager’s direction, including technical evaluation, concept design, risk assessment, and preparation of engineering reports and documentation. The role ensures compliance with applicable grid codes, electrical standards, quality requirements, HSE regulations, Omani legal frameworks, and international best practices.
The role operates in alignment with the Company’s mission, values, policies, and strategic objectives, contributing to the successful development of clean energy projects.

Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Lead electrical engineering activities across all project development phases, including evaluation of EPC proposals and participation in factory acceptance tests (FAT), commissioning, and site acceptance tests (SAT) as required.
- Lead the preparation and development of electrical engineering studies, specifications, standards, Basis of Design, and key engineering deliverables.
- Define and manage electrical engineering inputs during Feasibility, Concept Design, and FEED stages.
- Develop and review electrical system architecture, including MV/HV systems, substations, export systems, and preliminary Single Line Diagrams (SLDs).
- Lead grid interconnection strategy and associated technical studies.
- Interface with grid operators (e.g., OETC and PDO) to ensure compliance with grid codes and connection requirements.
- Review and guide power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, stability, reactive power, and harmonic assessments.
- Support project budgeting, cost estimation, cost control, multidisciplinary coordination, procurement activities, document control, and contract management.
- Lead development of electrical Scope of Work documents, evaluate technical offers, and manage engineering studies to ensure timely and complete deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with industry best practices, applicable standards, and design codes, maintaining technical accuracy, quality, and cost optimization of electrical designs.
- Provide technical guidance and support in reviewing engineering deliverables prepared by electrical engineers.
- Participate actively in technical reviews, workshops, and project meetings.
- Support equipment selection and procurement processes from a technical perspective.
- Contribute to resolving electrical engineering challenges arising throughout project development phases.
- Provide technical support to Asset Management and O&M teams when required.
- Promote and comply with company Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) policies, ensuring personal and team safety at all times.
- Ensure adherence to OQAE safety and quality procedures and maintain high safety standards in all engineering and design activities.

Education requirements
|
The minimum qualification for this position is a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
|

Language requirements

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) , Arabic - Native (desirable)

8+ years of relevant experience
|
- Must have experience in power projects electrical engineering. Experience in renewable energy projects is an advantage
- Electrical and Telecommunication operation and maintenance experience would be an advantage.
- Basic understanding of renewable energy generation process, configurations.
- Familiar with IEC, NEC, ISA, IEEE, and other industrial/regulatory electrical/instrumentation codes and standards.
- Familiar with local codes, standards, and grid connection requirements related to Oman grids (OETC grid and PDO grid).
- Capability to use power system software is an advantage.
- Good understanding of power system studies such as Load Flow Study, Short Circuit Study, reactive power compensation, Transient Stability Study and Harmonics Study.
