|
Job purpose
Provides support for the analysis and evaluation of the implementation of Environmental Management Plans of OQ8 under TL Environmental scope, acting as team player through (1) the Implementation and monitoring the compliance with environmental policies, regional and international best practices in environment, and (2) assist the Environmental Management in carrying out the daily environmental analysis and protection activities; (3) Assess the application of policies, processes, and procedures to assure alignment of these policies with the implementation in the operations in order to contribute with Environmental department to meet its objectives and ensures continuous performance improvement; (4) Ensure proper active management of biodiversity offset sites.
The position will act in accordance with the OQ8’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Oman’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Accountabilities:
|
Implementation of Assurance Plan
|
- Ensure implementation of the annual Assurance Plan aligned with the OQ8 business plan and HSE strategy.
|
|
Evaluation of Environmental Management Plans
|
- Evaluate and analyze progress in the implementation of Environmental Management Plans of DRIPC, adhering to national and international environmental laws and regulations.
|
|
Management of Biodiversity Offset Sites
|
- Consult with contractors on the design and construction of offset sites.
- Conduct routine site visits to assess construction progress.
- Engage with stakeholders and experts for required baseline surveys.
- Design and implement a methodology to assess the effectiveness of offset sites.
- Consult with stakeholders on Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) implementation progress.
- Develop and deliver environmental awareness sessions, on biodiversity offset sites, internally and externally.
- Prepare reports on BAP implementation progress and offset site conditions for the company and lenders.
- Participation in Environmental Assurance Activities:
- Participate in and lead environmental assurance activities such as audits and inspections.

Data Analysis and Follow-up
|
- Analyze data from environmental inspections regularly and follow up on outstanding environmental issues.
|

Participation in Incident Investigation
|
- Participate in environmental incident investigations and provide recommendations to avoid recurrence.
|
|
Review of Environment Impact Assessments
|
- Participate in reviewing Environment Impact Assessments to ensure incorporation of environmental policies and standards.
|
|
Recommendations for Process Improvements
|
- Recommend improvements to environmental processes and procedures
|
|
System Processes and Workflow Analysis
|
- Analyze and recommend changes in system processes and workflow improvements to enhance function delivery as guided by the Department Manager.
|
|
Report Development
|
- Develop reports as required by the Department.
|
|
|
Key interactions
Internal: Liaise with the colleagues and stakeholders for day-to-day work including Department managers, Maintenance, Operations, Technical Services, Engineering, and Shift staff
External: Acts as liaison between Government offices, External regulators, lenders Environmental consultants, Neighboring industries, Universities and research organization, Industry bodies, Ministers, and political decision-makers

Notable Working Conditions. Field Operations and office environment, Moderate to intensive computer screen use.

Education requirements
|
Bachelor’s degree in environment, conservation, engineering, or equivalent
|
|
Language requirements
|
Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required)
|
|
Background and experience
|
Competencies and skills
|
- 8+ years of relevant experience, in biodiversity management and field surveys
- Fundamentals of HSSE - Comprehensive knowledge of occupational health & safety. Detailed understanding of general industry standards and the requirements of the more frequently referenced standards
- Knowledge of HSSE Management System
- Experience in HSSE audits.
- Knowledge of risk management methods and practices.
- Knowledge of Omani and International Environmental Standards and regulations.

- Ability to improve the Environment perspective for OQ8 and advise, steer and direct accordingly.
