Job purpose

 

Provides robust day to day Water & Finished Products support on the implementation and execution of end to end analysis of Water & Finished Products Laboratory services including projects for designated plants/area at OQ8 under TL laboratory Water & Finished Products services scope’s, acting as Senior team player, leader of related Water & Finished Products projects and direct support to Team Leader by (1) Performing end to end process for the analyses of scheduled samples during normal operation of plants,  processes (sample Collection and Testing, Chemical Reagent Preparation, Qualitative and Quantitative Analyses, Interpretation of Results),  and monitoring the progress of experiments entrusted to scrutinize laboratory results for commonplace procedures, (2)  Lead project research /  pilot-scale testing of processes related with Water & Finished Products OQ8 processes using calibrated lab instruments, (3)  Coordinate with Lab. Equipment the Maintenance and Calibration, Evaluation and Validation of Instruments, (4) Responsible for Laboratory System & Data Management Reporting, (5) Ensure Compliance Evaluation, Continuous Improvement Initiatives, and housekeeping standards, and (6) Guide/ Train young staff in related matters; in order to ensure continuous provision of laboratory services and give the effective solutions and commit to related technical requirements for business performance, profitability and optimization.

 

The position will act in accordance with the OQ8’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Oman’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

  • Tank Farm: Tests may include analyses to monitor the quality and quantity of products stored in tanks, as well as assessing tank integrity and safety.

  • Steam, Fuel, etc.: Tests may include analyses of steam quality, fuel composition, and other parameters relevant to offsite and logistics operations.

Team Leader Support

  • Take up the charge of TL Laboratory services during his absence.

Sample Collection and Testing

 

  • Perform collection of samples and laboratory chemical and biological tests on water, wastewater, biosolids, recycled water, and industrial wastes.
  • Assemble and record test data, prepare draft charts, graphs, and written reports.
  • Oversee performing laboratory chemical tests on Refineries Plant Process Intermediate Streams, Final Products, Process & Utilities water samples &, Waster water Samples.

Chemical Reagent Preparation

  • Prepare and standardize chemical reagents and solutions.
  • Perform a variety of chemical and biological tests in the field and the laboratory on collected samples.

Qualitative and Quantitative Analyses

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses, including LIMS data entry, of process intermediates and using accepted analytical methodologies.
  • Making recommendations based on their findings.

Interpretation of Results

  • Interpret results, databases for specifications, methods, and standards.

Projects

  • Act as the technical/project lead on instrument qualification projects.
  • Perform field investigations and designated projects to determine and minimize related problems.

Equipment Maintenance and Calibration

  • Perform routine / minor Preventive maintenance and minor repairs on laboratory equipment and calibrate lab instruments as needed.
  • Perform the Field Tests Witnessing pertained to process areas   

Evaluation and Validation of Instruments

  • Evaluation, calibration, and validation of analytical testing instrumentation.

Laboratory System & Data Management 

  • Coordinates the needs of functional departments and establishes priorities for Empower and Laboratory Systems requirements gathering, system design, and implementation.
  • Responsible for Laboratory System documentation, including converting User Requirement Specifications to Detail Design Specifications, writing Configuration Test Plans and summary reports.
  • Process Laboratory Systems change control requests.

Reporting

  • Assemble and record test data, prepare draft charts, graphs, and written reports.
  • Preparing and maintaining laboratory reports and documentation

Compliance Evaluation

  • Evaluate information to determine compliance with specifications or standards.
  • Develop new testing procedures and technologies.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives

  • Initiate continuous improvement within lab operations to enhance quality and service while reducing costs.

Housekeeping

  • Maintain Integrity of Laboratory Analysers and Completes safety Check List with Good Laboratory Practices.

Training / Guidance

  • Train other Laboratory System trainers.

Education requirements

Minimum qualification required is a college graduate degree or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.

Language requirements 

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required)

  • Experienced with products specifications and LIMS.
  • Experience in Petrochemical, preferably Refineries Plant Process,
  • Will be an Added Advantage to Work in different Locations of OQ Downstream Laboratories,
  • Experience in Water, Wastewater and Environmental Analysis.
