ROLE PURPOSE

 

is responsible for carrying out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities on mechanical equipment within the power and water plant. The role ensures the reliability, availability, efficiency, and safe operation of generating units, desalination systems, auxiliary equipment, and balance-of-plant assets.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 
  1. Troubleshooting Faulty Machinery
 
  • Stay aware of anything unusual, troubleshoot faulty machinery and diagnose the root cause of the malfunction using diagnostic tools and problem-solving abilities.
 
  1. Mechanical Preventive and Corrective maintenance
  • performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the power and water plant. This includes inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling rotating and static equipment such as pumps, compressors, valves, fans, heat exchangers, gearboxes, and associated auxiliary systems.
 
  1. Contractor Management
 
  • Coordinate and supervise contractor personnel performing mechanical maintenance activities within the plant.
  • Inspect completed contractor work to verify compliance with technical specifications, maintenance standards, and plant requirements.
 
  1. Collaboration on Complex Mechanical Issues
  • Ensure maintenance procedures reflect current best practices, OEM recommendations, safety requirements, and plant operational needs.
 
  1. SOP & Manual Update and Development
  • Support the development, review, and periodic update of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintenance procedures, and equipment manuals for mechanical systems and equipment.
  • ensure SOPs and maintenance documentation are aligned with OEM recommendations, industry best practices, plant requirements, and HSE standards.
 

 

 
  1. Document Maintenance and Repairs Daily Log
 
  • Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately using SAP, Maximo, or other CMMS systems.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and equipment history records.
  • Update equipment inspection checklists and maintenance logs.
 
  1. Coaching New Hires
 

Coach newly hired/Junior Mechanical Technicians and teach them various policies, procedures, and repair techniques.

 
  1. Safety Compliance
  • Comply with all plant safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements.
  • Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and risk assessments.
  • Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.

 

 
  1. Technical Skills
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
  • Pump and compressor maintenance.
  • Turbine auxiliary systems maintenance.
  • Mechanical seal and bearing replacement.
  • Shaft alignment using laser alignment tools.
  • Reading and interpreting P&IDs, engineering drawings, and manuals.
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems maintenance.
  • Knowledge of condition monitoring techniques.
  • Familiarity with SAP PM, Maximo, or similar maintenance systems.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, plant availability, and maintenance efficiency.
  • Share technical knowledge and lessons learned with team members to promote continuous learning and development.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

 

Educational & Professional Qualifications and Experience

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineer from a technical or vocational college
  • Proficiency in English is a must, Arabic is a plus

Minimum Experience:

  • 3 to 6 years of direct and relevant experience in power generation, desalination, water treatment, utilities
