ROLE PURPOSE

 

As the Director, your primary role is to lead and manage the entire plant's operations and maintenance activities. Your focus is on maximizing plant, business growth, revenue, and profitability, while ensuring safe working place, high efficiency, and high reliability in delivering products to customers within budget and timelines and build a business plan and strategies. You'll also be responsible for maintaining positive customer relations and compliance with environmental laws and regulations. Your duties include monitoring and adjusting operations to meet targets and effectively managing all resources to ensure efficiency and reliability in product delivery.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 
  1. Strategy Development
 

Contribute to the development of Company’s corporate strategy and the derivation of its strategic plans.

Lead the development of the functional strategy aligned with the company strategy and oversee its implementation in order to ensure alignment with other interfacing functional strategies across the company, both vertically and horizontally.

 
  1. People Management

Manage the function’s team of direct and indirect reports through effective recruitment, development, performance management, and succession planning to maximize team performance and achieve functional objectives, including Nationalization targets.

 
  1. Operational and Maintenance (O&M) /Asset Management

Manage the function’s daily operations and maintenance activities, providing expertise, enabling teamwork, and aligning processes to achieve high performance standards, meet targets, and ensure proper power generation and water production asset management. This includes approving maintenance plans, overseeing asset management with proper documentation, record-keeping, and manuals, as well as executing yearly objective plans and purchase requisitions for Plant Operations.

 
  1. Budget Management
 

Manage the development and consolidation of the functional budget and monitor the function’s financial performance versus the budget to ensure financial authority is exercised within established limits and control functional budget expenditure. Perform budget reviews regularly to ensure operational expenses are on track and evaluate capex and contingency budgets for approval.

 
  1. Interface Management
 

Effectively manage and control interfaces between various assets, stakeholders including their relevant activities, while facilitating the traceability of agreements and changes, when applicable.

Effectively manage various issues raised by stakeholders relevant to existing power and water agreements or new ones.

Manage the long-term service agreements with main gas turbine manufacturer including performance and KPIs. 

 
  1. Plant Activities Management & Reports
 

Manage plant activities, preventive maintenance, and overhaul procedures and ensure compliance with established standards and OEM manuals/standards.

Ensure that all Plant departmental reports (including the status update of the execution of the plant operations) are prepared as per management request, in a timely and accurate manner, and submit them to the Management.

 
  1. Communication Management

Keep senior management and other routinely informed of O&M activities, challenges, KPIs and the impact on safety, and environment.

Manage Interface meetings with major stakeholders/off takers.

Manage meetings, as necessary, between different assets heads in order to reduce technical and economic risks, while negotiating the best resolution of interface discrepancy, when applicable.

Proper communications of HR policies and any updates to all O&M staff.

 
  1. Production & Maintenance Management

Closely monitor production and operating parameters and direct operations to safely maximize efficiency, reliability and meet production target.

Ensure the Maintenance programs in the Plant are well developed and run and establish rules to operate the Plant with minimum emission (control) and maximize steady and stable supply as required by Production.

 

 
  1. Policies & Procedures
 

Ensure the proper development, implementation, and communication of the function’s policies and work instructions.

Work with the shareholders to ensure the right and cost-effective development of Operations, Maintenance and Asset Management procedures.

 
  1. Health, Safety & Quality
 

Ensure functional compliance to all relevant health, safety & Quality requirements Oman standards and international best practice, in order to guarantee employee safety, assets safety and legislative compliance.

Ensure immediate reporting of incidents/near misses to Company’s health, safety & environment representatives.

Award the staff for excellent safety records.

 
  1. Continuous Improvement
 

Ensure functional contribution to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘leading best industrial practices’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

 

Educational & Professional Qualifications and Experience

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a recognised University
  • MBA would be preferable
  • Proficiency in Arabic and English is a must

Minimum Experience:

  • 15-20 years of direct and relevant experience in O&M and Asset Management of medium size of Combined Cycle Power and Desalinated Water plants.
  • Full exposure in a power and water generation experience both as projects and commercial operation.
  • Experiences in PWPA in medium size of Combined Cycle Power and Desalinated Water Plants.
  • Demonstrated Operations Excellence track records in leading and managing the Plants.
